Questions
The things people ask before signing up, and the things they ask a week later. Straight answers, including where the product falls short. If yours is not here, email us and we will add it.
Plans and billing
Is there a free plan?
Yes, and it is not a trial that expires. It covers up to three active projects and three people, with 10 MB per file and 500 MB of storage for the workspace. Enough to run something real.
What does Pro add?
Unlimited projects and people, private and member-only projects, unlimited saved views, a year of Mission Mode history instead of a week, 100 MB per file and no workspace storage cap.
How is it priced?
Per person, per month, with a cheaper annual rate. You are billed for the people in your workspace, not for projects or boards.
Is there a limit on workspaces?
No. You can have as many as you like on any plan: a work one, a personal one, one per client. Billing follows the people in each workspace, not the number of workspaces.
What happens if a payment fails?
Nothing abrupt. The workspace keeps working with a warning while the payment is retried. You are never locked out of your own work over an expired card.
Your data
Can I get my data out?
Yes, from Workspace → Integrations. A project or an entire workspace as JSON, which keeps the full structure and can be read back in; or your cards as CSV for a spreadsheet. Nothing is withheld or scrambled.
What if I stop paying?
A lapsed workspace falls back to the free plan’s limits. It does not delete anything, and export stays available so you can take your work with you.
Where is it stored?
In Convex, which handles the database, live updates and file storage. Attachments are served through signed, expiring URLs rather than public links, so knowing a file’s id is not enough to read it.
Working day to day
Is there a mobile app?
Tarsen installs to your home screen as an app. On iOS use Share → Add to Home Screen; on Android your browser will offer it. It runs full screen and receives push notifications. There is no separate App Store download.
Does it work offline?
No. The board is a live connection, so everyone sees the same thing at the same moment. That is the trade: always current, but it needs a connection. Long text you are typing is saved locally as you go, so a dropped connection mid-paragraph does not lose it.
How do notifications reach me?
Three ways, each switched separately per workspace: in the app, by push to a device you have registered, and by email. Push and email are off until you turn them on. There is no daily digest you did not ask for.
Can I use it entirely by keyboard?
Close to it. ⌘K opens the command palette, and cards, filters, priorities and navigation all have keys. Press ? anywhere to see the full list.
AI
Do I have to use the AI features?
No. Mission Mode’s ranking is deterministic and works with no AI provider configured at all. It reads due dates, priority, estimates, staleness and blocked state. An API key improves how it explains itself and switches on Ask Tarsen.
Can the assistant change my board?
Inside the app, no. It proposes, and you confirm before anything is written. If you connect your own assistant over MCP, it can create cards, edit them and comment, because you asked it to. Those actions are attributed to you and appear in the activity log like any other.
Can I connect my own Claude?
Yes, through the built-in MCP server. It takes about two minutes and the assistant then sees exactly the projects you can see, with your permissions.
Is my board used to train models?
No. Content is sent to a provider only when you use an AI feature, and only what that feature needs.
Teams and access
Who can see what?
Workspaces have owners, admins and members. A project can be open to the whole workspace, private, or limited to named people, and within a project someone can be a lead, an editor or a viewer. Every check runs on the server, not in the interface.
Can I stop members creating projects?
Yes, in workspace settings. Creation can be limited to admins.
Is there single sign-on?
Google sign-in is available. Enterprise SSO enforcement and directory provisioning are not built.
