A backlog tells you what exists. Mission Mode answers the harder question: which work fits into today, given the time and constraints you actually have?
What it reads
- Due dates and start dates.
- Priority and estimated effort.
- Whether a card is blocked, and why.
- How stale open work has become.
- The working hours and capacity you have said are realistic.

Open Mission Mode
Tarsen gathers the open work you can access and applies the deterministic scoring model.
Review the shortlist
The plan shows why each card was selected and how it fits the available capacity.
Pin what cannot slip
Pinned cards stay in the plan while lower-value work can be deferred.
Work from the plan
Open the cards, move them through the board, and let the next run use the new state.
AI is optional
The ranking and capacity logic work without an AI provider. If an OpenAI or Anthropic provider is configured, AI can improve the explanation of the plan. The product does not become unusable because an API key is missing.
Mission Mode is a planning aid, not a promise that an uncertain day will fit. A blocked card stays blocked, and a plan is still something a person can adjust.
Built for finishing, not reporting
Mission Mode is most useful when your board already contains honest dates, priorities, estimates, and blocked reasons. It does not replace a roadmap, a dependency graph, or a resource-planning department.
